Description
Viñedos de Alcohuaz is undoubtedly one of the most interesting vineyards in the country. With a unique high altitude Terroir and extreme viticulture, VDA is rewriting the History of Chilean Wine in the landscapes of the Elqui Valley.
We begin with a brief introduction to the project and the landscape outside the VDA Sales Room. From there we set off by vehicle to the Winery, located at 1810 meters above sea level, traveling along the way through the old Pisquera grape vineyards and the wine quarters adjacent to the Winery. Then we will learn how these high altitude wines are made in complete harmony with the landscape, with multiple awards and prizes such as: Revelation Vineyard, Best Chilean Syrah and Garnacha, Revelation Wine Cariñan 2020 and the “Whine maker of the year” recognition for its Winemaker Marcelo Retamal. We will learn the entire process of winemaking, from the moment of harvest to obtaining the bottle. We will visit the wine presses (where the wine is tread), the Concrete Vats, Fudres and Qvebris (where the wines mature) and the mystical Wine Library. Finally, we will go back down to the sales room for the tasting of three of their best wines.
